Faith Heart and Steel by LOSTrocker
A/N: Been dying to do an Xover with Highlander and Supernatural since I first started watching SPN. This idea really peaked when I saw Jim Brynes on "Bugs". He played the professor. I wish he'd been on there for more than five minutes. Now, don't get your panties in a twist. This is far from one of those one of the Winchesters turns into a Immortal fics. Actually, the timeline for Highlander Universe takes place after The Source. So, major spoiler warning for those of you who haven't seen that. As for SPN, Season 4 because I have yet to see Season 5. Won't be able to until it comes out on DVD.

Chapter One: Park Bench Confessions:

Methos smirked when he met up with Castiel at the park. The last time he'd seen him, it'd been along time ago where it was okay to admit to seeing Angels and one wasn't tossed in a nut house for it. He looked different this go round because he wasn't in his true form. Yes, The Old Man had seen it and he was stunning. Too beautiful for words that even Methos could utter. That had been a perk of being an Immortal. Dean always did hate him for that.

"Hello Adam," Castiel didn't even have to turn to his right to see who was coming up to sit next to him. Ancient things had this connection.

Methos shook his head. He was still getting use to the whole idea of being mortal. With mortality came the name Adam. Methos wasn't exactly was on the 100 Top Name List of the new century. Had they been in private Castiel would have called him by his true name but since they weren't Adam had to do.

"Cas," Methos returned. He studied the Angel's meat suit. "Whose the poor bastard your riding?" Methos asked and resisted the snicker that was coming. That sounded naughty.

"His name is Jimmy." Cas shared as he turned to him.

Methos shivered. Damn those blue eyes of his. It was like he was looking into his soul. Then again, Methos doubted he had one. However, if he did, leave it to Castiel to find it.

"Ah," Methos replied. He was interested in the whole blood line thing. It was amazing what that could do for a human. The Old Man didn't have that luxury. That was a con of being an Immortal. He could change that now that The Game was over, but why change what can't be fixed? Unlike his friend Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod he wasn't up for playing house. It didn't suit him. The Highlander's voice rang off somewhere in the back of his head: You'll change your mind when you find her... In which, Methos just told Mac to shut the fuck up and focused back to Castiel.

The Old Man couldn't help but wonder about this Jimmy character. What was he like? Did he have a family and what in the Hell made him sign up for this? Dean was right about Angels, they were dicks. Castiel was the exception though he had his moments too. Thinking of Dean, he knew he would regret this later. He just had to know though. After all, the sonabitch was brought out of Hell. "How is Winchester?"

"He is... Adjusting." Castiel made known.

"That sounded reassuring Cas." Methos teased.

Cas shrugged. Thats all he had because thats all that Dean gave him. Cas could easily confess to Methos that his charge was hurting, and being stubborn to let anyone because of the whole Hell experience. It wasn't his place. Besides, Dean and The Old Man weren't on the best of terms. It wasn't Methos in general, he didn't like Immortals at all rather they be good or bad. Dean didn't think it was fair that while good people died while others like Methos could walk around for a good 5,000 years and not die.

"I would watch your tone," Castiel warned. "It is because of me that Dean doesn't know that The Game is over. You need to watch your head."

Methos just laughed the threat off like it was nothing. "He should watch his."

"I mean it Old Man," Castiel continued.

"So do I."

"He is not who he once was, you know that."

"Then I say bring him on if he wants to. I wouldn't mind a good challenge." Methos played with the thought. Dean Winchester was that indeed. He loved to spare with him. He wasn't like MacLeod who held back. Dean came with a force to be reckoned with."I don't want to get rusty."

Castiel shook his head. What was he going to do with these two? They were like cats and dogs when they were put together. Yet, Castiel saw that these two were more alike then they realized. It was time to turn the tables. Cas asked: "How are you doing these days?"

"Tired," Methos answered honestly as he let out a long sigh."I don't see how these mortals do this every day." He paused. "It's frustrating." He admitted. "There was a time when I knew I could live on for another decade or two. Now, I don't know if I'm going to make in the next ten seconds."

Cas smiled. "I could always bring you back."

"Thanks but no thanks," Methos turned down his offer politely.

That caused Cas to raise an eyebrow his way. "You wouldn't want to?"

"Good God no!" Methos answered.

Cas caught the sadness that was slipping in his voice and starting to show in his eyes. He didn't have to guess why Methos was so damn tired. It wasn't just because of his age, it was the fact that he was alone. Richie was the first go. That had been hard on The Old Man. He wouldn't admit it but he missed the brat. Dawson was the major blow though. Castiel had seen Methos in dark places before. It was nothing compared to what he saw after Dawson bowed out. Cas didn't think he would ever come out. It happened slowly and surely though. He had Samuel to thank for that one. Sammy had that way about him.

Methos got up from his spot by Cas. What he came to do here was done. He checked up on Castiel and Dean Winchester. The Old Man didn't want to over stay his welcome. He didn't want to give Cas the impression that he actually liked the guy. Methos just wanted to make sure they were all right and alive. He got worried there when he started to see Angels dying.

"Leaving so soon?" Castiel questioned as he followed Methos' stature.

Methos smiled. "Some of us have a job to do." The Old Man had gotten Joe's after Dawson's exit. Cas was surprised he hadn't drunk the place dry. Then again, he hadn't met him drunk yet. Cas didn't want him to either. He would never hear the end of it.

"Watching over Dean is a full time job." Castiel reminded him.

Methos laughed. He gave a friendly slap on the shoulder. "You might have me beat on that one Cas." he said. "When you have a chance swing by Joe's. All right?" He offered. "Hell, bring Dean. I'm sure he could probably use a drink. I promise I'll play nice." Methos parted from the Angel

"Why do I not believe you?" Castiel questioned him.

"O ye of little faith, as they say." Methos mocked him.

Castiel watched The Old Man take his leave. He faded into the scenery like a ghost. Cas would have to take up on Methos' offer. It seemed that Dean wouldn't be the only one who needed watching.
